Skateboarding in empty pools, what started as a simple fad, is now a world wide known sport. Skateboarding or ‘ejkei’ like we say in Puerto Rico is now practiced by over 10 million Americans. Puerto Rico isn’t very different; throughout the island there are many skate parks that are constructed with prefabricated obstacles. Nevertheless, the wants and needs of skaters keep changing. On the island there is a latent generation of riders that has been increasing throughout the years. Today, along with the neglected existence of the Skateboarding Federation of Puerto Rico along with other sports, there are different groups and teams of young riders that have created themselves to encourage the sport and run where there is or isn’t space available.

The majorities of the parks in Puerto Rico are free of charge and are used daily, but they lack the things that satisfy the needs of skaters. Without a doubt, the skater enjoys the facilities that are already built thanks to the effort of the Federation, of the counties, and of the veteran riders that have fought to have this activity brought to a larger amount of people.
